Why Print Care

You have just purchased or plan to purchase a fine art photograph. Of course you want it to stay the same for many years to come and let your grandchildren still enjoy it. It is not difficult to achieve. Luckily, the photographer has already taken all necessary steps to ensure longevity of the print. The photograph is printed on acid-free paper using very stable archival inks. You just need to know a few things about mounting, display and environment.

In Short

Please follow these simple rules:

  • Use only archival grade mounting products: mounting boards, frames, etc
  • If used for display, consider glass to protect the print
  • Avoid direct sunlight
  • Avoid strong direct fluorescent light
  • Avoid humidity and high temperatures
  • Handle prints carefully with clean hands or gloves, try not to touch printed surface
  • Store prints flat. Avoid contact of the print with non-acid free materials and surfaces where prints can stick to
